The 55th May Festival will take place from Friday 3rd to Monday 6th May 2019 and the theme is Cartoons

 

Tickets are available for Cinema Night on Friday. We are showing the award winning Bohemian Rhapsody
There will also be a Children’s Film – Ralph breaks the Internet – on Friday starting at 4.30 pm

Friday

Children’s Film Night

Come along to watch Ralph breaks the Internet

When: Film starts at 4.30 pm

Where: Kimpton School Hall

Price: £3 each – pay on the door

Cinema Night

This year the film is the award winning Bohemian Rhapsody

Tickets are available online

When: Doors open at 7 pm and the film starts at 7.45 pm and finishes at 10 pm

Where: Kimpton School – “top” field

Price: Suggested donation £10 for a single ticket or £30 for 4

 Art Show

The Art Show Opening Night is a lively occasion and an opportunity to browse the exhibition, meet the artists and enjoy live music

When: 6 pm to 9 pm

Where: Kimpton Parish Church

Price: £5 including refreshments

Wine tasting

When: 8.30 pm to 10 pm

Where: Church House, Hitchin Road, Kimpton

Price: Suggested donation of £12.50 each. Tickets available online

Saturday

Dacre Rooms

The Dacre Rooms will be serving food from 10.30 am to 5 pm
There will also be food available at the Recreation Ground from 12 pm

Art Show and Sale

When: 11 am to 5 pm

Where: Kimpton Parish Church

Price: Adults £1

Procession

The procession will start at the western end of the High Street and proceed to the Recreation Ground
In the interest of safety  the High Street will be closed to through traffic from 12 pm until approximately 1.30 pm

The Procession assembles at 12 pm and starts at 12.30 pm

Arena Events at the Recreation Ground

1.10 pm: Fancy Dress presentation
1.20 pm: Crowning of the May Queen

1.30 pm: Garden City Samba Band – a community samba percussion and dance group based in Letchworth
Led by acclaimed percussionist Ravin, ‘Raz’ Jayasuriya

1.45 pm: Harpenden Pipe Band – led by Pipe Major, Stephen Marshall, the band will bring a taste of traditional Scottish culture

2 pm: Dangerous Steve – a thrilling outdoor and street theatre entertainer
Comedy, fire-juggling, giant unicycle and ladder balancing in an hilarious show

2.30 pm: Chainsaw Speed Carving – Peter is a chainsaw carver with over 14 years experience
He has demonstrated his art all over the country and taken part in several of the large chainsaw carving competitions, competing with the best chainsaw carvers in the world

3 pm: Maypole Dancing
3.30 pm: Dangerous Steve
4 pm: Chainsaw Speed Carving

Throughout the afternoon: Have your likeness captured by caricaturist Meni from Etim Arts – based near the Committee Tent at the Recreation Ground

History Exhibition

When: 2 pm to 5 pm

Kimpton Entertains

Kimpton Entertains is back! Saturday night’s concert has helped launch a few showbiz careers
Talented villagers will entertain us with music, song, dance and comedy and so much more!

When: Doors open 7.00pm Show starts 7.30pm and finishes 10.30 pm

Where: Memorial Hall

Price: Suggested Donation: £7.50 per person

5 a side Football

Get your mates together to form a team of 5 (plus 1 sub), one of whom must be a resident of the Kimpton parish
The tournament is in three school year groups: Years 1-3, 4-6, 7-9

A trophy will be presented to each member of the winning teams and to the runners-up

Music Night

This years Music Night will have not one but three acts

Once again opening the show will be Kimpton’s very own Toby Wood. Then we have two tribute acts – Liam & Noel Duo from Oasis tribute band Oasish & Madness tribute band Los Palmas 6

Monday

Kimpton Fun Run

The Kimpton Fun Run is an undulating off-road circuit through lovely countryside and bluebell woods
At the recreation ground finish you will find Kimpton has welcoming pubs, a hog roast, Pimm’s bar and other Festival activities
Coffee is served on the recreation ground for supporters

The adult course is approximately 9km with marshals/signs to guide you and a water station at Codicote Mill (5km)

Entries are ‘on the day’
The children’s fun run is approx 4km and medals are provided to all children  and other prizes are up for grabs

9.45 am REGISTRATION at the Recreation Ground football pavilion

ALL ENTRIES ARE ON THE DAY so be in good time as the race starts at 11.00 am
