And just like that, Spring is round the corner and so is May Festival 2024!

This year’s theme is The Magic of the Musicals so warm up those larynxes, dust off those dancing shoes and get ready to join in the fun.

Arena Acts & Entertainment

Leading the procession for 2024 is the Nostalgia Steelband, a London- based band with a mission to expose everyone to the carnival arts and the culture and musical traditions, in particular the steel pan, of the Caribbean!


 

We are delighted to announce that this year, we will be hosting the Herrings Green Farm Falconry display, which will feature a magnificent team of six birds.

You will have the opportunity to observe and photograph various bird species and engage in discussions with our knowledgeable falconer. Additionally, there will be two captivating flying displays on May Festival Saturday, where audience participation is highly encouraged!

 

We are delighted to announce that the Kimpton May Festival will feature a new act this year! Although we regrettably had to cancel their appearance in 2020, we are thrilled to have secured their participation once again.The Black Eagles Acrobats will be gracing the arena with two captivating performances on Saturday.We eagerly anticipate their awe-inspiring display of talent and look forward to welcoming them to our festival.

  • 10am May Festival Church Service – weather permitting, a joyous ‘Songs of Praise’ style open-air service in the Churchyard!
  • 10am-12pm Mini Tennis for 4-14 year olds. Tennis Club, £1 per child to May Festival Funds
  • 11-4pm Craft Fair, Kimpton Primary School. £1 donation on entry
  • 11-5pm Art Show, Kimpton Church. Weekend entry £2, children free here

Featuring local live covers band The 88

Gear up for an electrifying night of rock and indie nostalgia as we delve into the genre’s rich tapestry from the 1970s to the present day.

The 88 are a local four piece band that have been playing venues in and around Hertfordshire for over 15 years delivering energetic performances night after night. Strap in and enjoy the show with songs from Oasis, Kasabian, Blur, Chuck Berry, Rolling Stones, Killers, Black Crowes, Stereophonics, Queen and many more!

Soul food prides itself in providing food that’s good for the soul. This delectable food is an infusion of both African and Caribbean cuisine. Soul food is to be experienced. It relishes in putting a bit of sunshine in your tummy. Come and satisfy your taste buds with the tantalising flavours of the tropics.

Soul Food will be available outside the Memorial Hall from 6.30pm

Children’s Activities

Mini Tennis

Are you aged 4-14 and want to test out some tennis skills? Head along to the tennis club on Sunday, 10am – 12pm! Just £1 per child.

5-a-side Football

Get some friends together to form a team of 5 (plus 1 sub), at least one of which must have an affiliation with the Parish of Kimpton. The Sunday tournament is in four school year groups:

1-3, 4-6, 7-8 and 9-11

Junior Fun Run

Dig out your trainers…can you complete the 4km Junior Fun Run?

Register on the day, 9.30am at the Recreation Ground.

11am start on the Green, medals for all junior finishers!

Games on the Green

While the grown ups soak up the last moments of the festival, make lots of free, big bubbles and try your luck at the games on the Green! A small charge of 50p per turn on the dice game (cash only so bring your pocket money!) to join in the fun and chances to win prizes! Other donations very welcome.

All proceeds raised will go to the Willow Foundation.
